Earthdance 2018 (Celebrating 10 YEARS!)
DateSeptember 22, 2018
Kenya’s top charity dance music festival is upon us once again. The time has finally come for the 10th edition of Earthdance Nairobi! The Kenyan installation of this global peace party will be going down on Saturday 22nd September lush and tranquil greens of at The Ngong Racecourse’s Waterfront.
The 2018 event features multiple stages, with epic soundsystems to bring you the best (and probably loudest) music in Nairobi on that weekend! Along with the usual Festival Flea Market, International-grade psychedelic decor and our signature BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) bar system, this event looks more and more like it will turn out to be the event of the year, if not the decade! Prepare yourself for the ultimate music festival experience in Nairobi to date!
[An event of GLOBAL proportions]
As you may have already heard, the Earthdance festival is a worldwide synchronised event that happens on the same day in over 300 cities around the world. The global events are actively synchronised during the global link-up time in which the Prayer for Peace is played at exactly the same time, regardless of their time-zones. This year, the global synchronised date is 22nd of September and the global link-up time will occur at 3:00am on the night of the event (Making it 0300hrs on 23rd September) so be sure to be in attendance to witness this magical moment as it unfolds.
[The 2018 Theme]
This year’s theme is unique to each event. Earthdance International has issued a “fill-in-the-blank” theme for all event producers to customise for their local scene. The theme for our 2018 event is “Plant Peace, Plant seeds”. In a time when deforestation and drought have adversely affected our city, we need to plant the seeds that enable us to be The Green City In The Sun once again. In partnership with Seedballs Kenya, an ingenious and fantastic new approach to the deforestation problem (Check out www.seeballskenya.com for more info) we will be re-greening our city, with the help of every single one of our attendees (That includes you).
[Music + Stages]
As music is the driving force behind Earthdance Nairobi, we have looked at our ten-year history to see what sounds have inspired the new generation of ravers. We can’t let the cat out of the bag yet, but you can guarantee a multiple stage set-up with all the balles and whistles to match. Watch this space for more info!
[What should you bring?]
BYOB is back! And that means we bring dem beats, and you bring your booze! As this is an outdoor festival, there is a NO GLASS policy. Which means you must decant any drinks in glass bottles into plastic bottles before you get there. If you cannot find any plastic bottles we will have a mandatory ‘Decanting Station’ with plastic bottles on sale at the gate for all drinks in glass bottles. For the safest festival experience, NO GLASS is the best way to go! (More details to follow on our social media). As usual the festival bar will be running throughout to ensure those cooler boxes remain stacked to the max! Just be prepared to surrender your glass if you buy anything in a bottle.
